Exhibition "As aventuras de Alice" (Alice's adventures) at Farol Santander, São Paulo

For those who won’t have the chance to visit this amazing exhibition, I can describe and tell you what you would find there, but slightly suggest the joy of the experience of this journey. There we witness Alice’s adventures from Lewis Carroll’s book from her jump out of the book into labyrinthic experiences in alicedelic arts and moving images, going through immersive installations in a journey full of magic and creativity.

There we cross multiple curiouserisms: closed doors, tunnels, gears, gadgets, optical devices, assemblages, cabinets of curiosities, anamorphoses, sculptures of screens and un-falling chairs, to name afew. Alice jumps from the pages and crosses successive screens, unfolding dreams within dreams. Artists dare alicedelias, fragments of Wonderland in films, videos and animations are edited in slow or in panting breaths, creating moving alicescopes in which Alice travels at the speed of light.

This unprecedented exhibition in Brazil invites the imagination of adults and children to travel as Alices looking for herselves. There, in a playful and interactive way, through two floors of exhibition we walk through scenarios, characters, curiosities and illustrative and cinematographic adaptations of the tale, in versions of the pre-cinema story presented through revolving books, view masters, a magic lantern, stereoscopic images and even a thaumatrope and zoetrope, diving in sequence a travel into the big screen. Occupying an area of around 600m², it displays more than 100 items that bring this fantastic universe to the public. Installations, historical video materials with different versions of famous scenes from the tale and a 3D cinema, present vast audiovisual material.
