I have a soft spot for Alice in Wonderland cakes and edible sculptures, but this one feels completely different from the usual tea-party aesthetic.

Instead of bright colors and whimsical characters, it transforms the story into something that looks as if Wonderland has been forgotten for a century and slowly reclaimed by nature. The crystallized pages resemble ice, sugar, or mineral formations growing from an ancient book. Moss spills between the pages, faded roses emerge from hidden corners, and Alice herself appears like a memory trapped inside the object.

What I love most is that it doesn't simply illustrate Alice in Wonderland — it reimagines the book as an artifact, a relic discovered in a secret garden somewhere between dream and decay.

Federico Bobina has recently unveiled his latest series called Architale that’s in the same vein—this time, it focuses on fairy tale architecture. Babina describes it as “a tribute to the fairy tale universe where the architectures are reinvented to accommodate the protagonists of the story.”

Plot

"The seven-year-old hero, Nathaniel, is not a confident reader. When his eccentric old aunt Eleanor dies, she leaves her house to his parents and her huge book collection to the young boy. Nathaniel discovers that the books shelter all the heroes found in children's literature. Among them are Alice in Wonderland, Puss in Boots, Pinocchio and Little Red Riding Hood and they are counting on him for protection: if they leave the library, they will disappear along with their stories forever. When his parents start selling off the books, Nathaniel is shrunk by the evil fairy Carabosse and must brave everything to save his miniature friends."

What Classic Literature Looks Like Without the Words

"Here’s some decor for grammar nerds: Between the Words, a project by Chicago-based artist and web developer Nicholas Rougeux, visualizes Moby Dick, Peter Pan, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (above), and other classic texts through their punctuation.

 In Rougeux’s posters, every comma, apostrophe, dash, question mark, and exclamation point (or other punctuation mark) used in each work spirals around a small illustration from the book. The strings of punctuation are separated by Roman numerals denoting the chapters. The designs evoke the rhythm and cadence of the texts in the abstract, revealing the authors’ predilections for endless dialogue or numerous dashes. "
